Each and every PC or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This goes for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, referred to as guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers
- Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we provide all three instead of just one because we realize that you might want to set up some software which has specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software packages you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you want to use one and for this reason we offer several Control Panels as well. In the event you decide that you need to have a different OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and set up the one that you'd like. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated servers
that we offer can be set up with three different Operating Systems because we want to give you more versatile solutions that will allow you to install and run any web software regardless of its system requirements. The choices are CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu and these three OSs are some of the most reliable and safe ones, not mentioning that they do not have any license fees. All three have numerous developers who have created a huge number of software packages that you can install and use on your server. We also offer three internet hosting Control Panels and which one you can use will depend on the Operating System that you choose when you sign up. In case you need a new OS later on, it will not be a problem since we can always reinstall your machine. With our Managed Services package we could also keep your OS secure by updating it on a weekly basis with any patches which are available for it.
