An access log is a detailed list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain site. Every single file that was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have only one webpage with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for every of the six files which were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, worldwide web browser and IP address. Occasionally you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The data an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of a website, besides the web statistics which your web hosting server may have created.
Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your shared hosting account and take a look at this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains which you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button that'll be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is active, you'll see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and view it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect right away, so if you no longer need one, you could stop it with simply a click from the same exact section of the CP. You'll still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it shall not take more than a couple of clicks to permit the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function can be enabled through the Hepsia website hosting Control Panel and this may be done independently for every single domain name or subdomain you have within your account. Once you log in and check out the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. One click will trigger the log generation and a second one will disable it, so you can control this feature with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the created content as a text file, which you may then use on your personal computer. Even if the logs are disabled, you shall still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
